AI Usage and Estimated Cost

Settings → AI usage lists the last sections the AI writer worked on, and what each one cost.

What the figures mean

• Est. cost is the estimated amount the AI provider charges for that section, in US dollars. It is calculated from the length of the request and the reply, at the provider's list price.
• Estimated provider cost this month adds up the cost from the first day of the calendar month (UTC).
• These are estimates. Your provider's invoice is the figure to rely on.

Your plan limits how many AI drafts you can make. The cost figure is separate: it shows what the provider charges, not what your plan allows.

Spend alerts

If your estimated AI spend for a month passes the threshold set by DonorDesk, an alert is written for the operator. Contact support if you want a different threshold.

Why a figure may show a dash

A dash (—) means no cost was recorded for that section, for example because it was written without the AI.
