How to Pin a Place on the Map
Place a location the map does not know by hand.
Most of the time, typing a town in an activity's Location field is enough — the map knows thousands of places and suggests them as you type. When the work happens somewhere the map does not know — a new camp, a village cluster, a spot outside town — you can pin it by hand instead.
Pin the place
- Open the project and choose Activities → Add planned activity.
- Fill in the title and dates as usual.
- Open More details and next to the Location field choose Place it on the map.
- Click the map where the work happens. A red pin drops there, and the coordinates appear under the map.
You can drag the map to move around and zoom in for a closer spot, then click again to move the pin. Remove the pin takes it back off.
- Save the activity as usual. The pin saves with it, and the activity appears on the map exactly where you put it.
Good to know
- The Location text still matters. If you type a name as well, the map shows the activity under that name at your pinned spot. With no text, it shows as Pinned place.
- Suggestions never overwrite what you type. The list under the Location field only offers places the map knows; ignoring them is fine — that is what the pin is for.
- A pin is part of the activity, like the title or the dates: it appears for everyone who can see the plan, and it moves only when someone edits the activity.
- If the coordinates are ever wrong, open the same form flow on the activity (or ask a colleague with access) and click the map again to re-pin, or remove the pin and use a place name instead.
