How to See Your Work on a Map
Plan page Map view and the Where we work card on the project Overview.
Every planned activity with a location can be shown on a map, so you can see at a glance where the work happens and how it is going there.
The Map view
Open your project and choose Activities. Next to List and Timeline there is a Map button.
Each dot on the map is one place with planned activities. The colour says how the work there is going — the same words the plan list uses:
| Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Red | Late — the end date has passed, or the start date passed and nothing has been recorded |
| Green | On time |
| Blue | Done |
| Grey | Cancelled |
A place with several activities shows the worst of them, and the dot grows when more activities share it. Rest the pointer on a dot to see the activities there and any open risks raised at that site.
Under the map you will find a short summary — for example 5 sites · 1 site late · 2 sites on time · 2 sites done · 1 risk open.
"Where we work" on the Overview
Your project's Overview page has a Where we work section with the same map. It shows the project's country and region, and links to the plan. If no activity sits at a known place, the section stays out of the way.
"Not placed on the map"
A dot needs a place the map knows. If an activity's location does not match one — a spelling the map has never heard of, or a very local place name — it is listed under the map instead of being guessed:
Not placed on the map (no matching place known): Farmer survey — somewhere unmapped — Atlantis Valley
To place it, either retype the location using a nearby town the map suggests, or pin it by hand: Pin a place on the map.
Your own districts and sub-districts
By default the map draws the country and its provinces. An administrator can upload the workspace's own boundaries — districts, sub-districts, project zones — and every map then draws those instead. See Upload your own map boundaries.
The map works offline once it has loaded, and your locations are never sent anywhere: everything is drawn from data stored inside DonerDesk.
