How to Use the Field App Without a Connection
Download a project, fill forms and take photos offline, then send when connected.
The field app lets you fill in a project's forms on a phone with no signal. Your answers are kept on the phone and sent when it reconnects.
Before you go
- Open Work offline on a project's Collection forms page (under Data), or go to
/field, while you are online. - Choose a project under Download for offline and choose Download or refresh.
The download holds the project's form questions and the list of places. It holds no records, figures or people. It is removed when you sign out. A download older than two weeks shows a reminder to refresh it, but still works.
Fill in a form offline
Open the form from On this phone, fill it in and choose Save on this phone. Photos are kept with the answers. A banner shows what is waiting. When the phone is online again the answers are sent; a photo goes up first.
If the server refuses an answer (for example the form was closed in the meantime), the answer is kept and marked for attention with the reason. It is not sent again by itself.
Location
Use my location reads the phone's position, which works without a connection. If location is switched off for the page, type the numbers instead.
